The menu has 3 steering assistants to help manage current and delayed steering demands.

1. The Steering Line

Requesting to Show Steering Line from the menu will indicate, with a line from the current boat position to a target symbol at the center of the screen, a direction to steer the boat. A text box appears at the bottom right of the screen with calculations for this steering command.

helm
Press the Helm icon to open the Navigation panel with the steering information filled in.

2. The Layline Assistant

When the Layline Assistant is active, the line indicating direction to the chosen target may originate at the current boat position (same as with the Steering Line), or, if a tack or gybe is required to reach that location, from some future point on the predictor indicating the tacking/gybing layline to that destination.

helm
Press the Helm icon to open the Navigation panel with the steering information filled in. If a tack or gybe is needed at a future time, the Navigation panel will also include a Delay time for setting up a Delayed Command.

Note that the TWA that is filled in accurately represents the assistant line drawn on the screen, but may not be the most accurate best VMG at that time. You can use the recommended VMG Up or Down angle in the Navigation panel by clicking on the respective blue number before sending the command. It may take a few seconds to calculate the best VMG for the delayed time, so check that the stated best VMG calculation time agrees with your desired delay time. Since the predictor calculations are only performed up to 24 hours in the future, any delayed commands after that will use the wind conditions at the 24 hour mark for an approximation of the best VMG calculations.

You can repeat using the layline assistant for further tacks and gybes if you are moving through a narrow passage, or are trying to stay in a narrow wind channel.

3. The Timed Turn Assistant

This assistant is much like the layline assistant, but gives you full flexibility as to when your delayed command should take effect.

When first activated, a line is drawn to the center target from the nearest point on the predictor. Move the map such that the spot on the predictor where you want to create a delayed command is nearest to the center target. Then, press on the red pin in the bottom right of the assistant text box. This will pin the delayed command to the specified point on the predictor.

After the predictor end of the steering line is pinned, set the target as before and press the Helm icon to open the Navigation panel with the steering information filled in, including the delay time for the Delayed Command.
